Nina I Weickert Overmyer

Biography

Nina I. Weickert Overmyer, 98, of Fremont died early Monday morning at Bethesda Care Center. She was born March 2, 1911 in Fremont, the daughter of James and Martha (Green) Miller. She is a 1929 graduate of Fremont Ross High School and later attended Heidelberg College. She graduated from Bowling Green State University in 1962 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education. She married her first husband, Clarence Weickert on June 1, 1935, he preceded her in death in 1962. She married her second husband, Howard Overmyer in December of 1976, he preceded her in death in 1991. She started her teaching career at the Hineline School, a one room school house. She was a teacher for 25 years with the Fremont School System. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church where she taught Sunday School. She was also a member of the Teachers Retirement Association and The Sandusky County Farm Bureau. Nina was a gifted seamstress and made clothing for many family members, even without a pattern. She was a 4-H advisor and established the first 4-H Club in Rice Township. She will be remembered as a devoted mother and an exceptional teacher, caring for her students inside and outside the classroom. Surviving are her children, Clarence(Sandra)Weickert, Janice(Dave Howell)Zimmerman, Pat(Charles)Mowry, and Donald(Ann)Weickert, all of Fremont; step-son, Brice “Butch” Overmyer of McKinney, TX; sister-in-law, Mary “Merry” Miller of Fremont; grandchildren, James(Debbra)Zimmerman, John(Deanna)Zimmerman, Jerald Zimmerman, Jeffery(Paula)Zimmerman, Clarence(Jane) Weickert III, Stephen(Georgia)Weickert, Michael(Wendy)Mowry, Brian(Jackie)Mowry, Kevin(Kimberly)Mowry, Jeffery(Katrina)Weickert, Scott(Kelly)Weickert; 25 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husbands, brothers, James Miller and Dr. Carroll Miller, sister, Eva Klatcik, and granddaughter, Jeanne Zimmerman.

Friends may call Wednesday from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at Keller-Ochs-Koch-Mason Funeral & Cremation Service, 416 S. Arch St., Fremont. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 10:30AM at the funeral home with additional visitation beginning at 9:30A.M. Services will be officiated by Dr. William McConnell and burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery.
