Biography

Cletus J. “Pete” Nieset, 94, of Fremont died Friday at Bethesda Care Center. Cletus was born December 16, 1915 in Millerville, OH the son of John and Anna (Hensgen) Nieset. He married Rita (Snyder) Nieset October 21, 1939 in Fremont, Ohio. He was a stationary engineer with the Fremont School System for many years. He was a farmer and member of the National Rifle Association and was outdoorsman. He loved nature, hunting, fishing, and birds. “Pete” also was an avid reader and enjoyed spending time with his family. He is survived by his children, Marie (Robert) Arend of New Riegel, Gene Nieset of Fremont, Janet (Jim) Havens of Harbor Springs, MI, and Barb (Tom) Kowaleski of Sandusky; sister-in-law, Elizabeth (Ralph) Lehman; grandchildren, Angie, John, Laura, Jason, Tony, Elizabeth, Adam, Aaron, Elyse; and 5 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; siblings, Bernard, William, Fr. Carl, Sr. Margaret, Rita Dolweck, Walter, Clara, Art, Norbert, and John Jr..

Calling hours will be Monday 2-4 & 6-8 and Tuesday from 9:30-10:30AM at Keller-Ochs-Koch-Mason Funeral & Cremation Service, 416 S. Arch St, Fremont. Mass of Resurrection will be Tuesday at 11:00AM at St Ann Catholic Church, Fremont. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the St. Francis Convent in Tiffin, Hospice of Memorial Hospital, or St. Joseph Tuition Assistance, all c/o of the funeral home.
